About Yin Yee

Yin Yee is an engineering leader and builder who leads software engineering teams and makes products with a team of AI bots.

I grew up in sunny Singapore and moved to sunny California for college. I studied computer science and economics at UC Irvine, stayed for a master's in software engineering, and have been building software ever since. I started as an engineer, grew into tech lead and architect, and now lead software engineering teams. I like the whole stack, from frontend to production, and I like sitting with customers and product even more.

Lately I don't build alone. I run a small team of AI bots. I set the direction and make the calls. A chief of staff tracks priorities, product manager bots turn ideas into plans, and engineer bots write and test the code. I review the work, keep the rules short, and ship what holds up. Some days the bots save me hours, and some days I'm cleaning up after them. I write both down here.

The first thing this team shipped is Dining Credit Map, a living map of Chase Sapphire Reserve dining-credit restaurants. More is on the way.

Off the clock, I'm into 90s JRPGs like Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, plus StarCraft. I've played 2,000+ games as Zerg, reaching high Diamond and Master in 2v2. It turns out that's good training for running coding agents: micro is steering one agent closely, macro is strategy and resources, and the meta keeps shifting with every model update. Adapt or lose. I wrote about it on X. It was not a waste of time.
